My morning checklist protects the first focused work block from avoidable surprises. I spend a bounded amount of time checking production health, deployments, and incoming requests. If those systems look normal, I choose one primary build task and write its validation before opening implementation files.

The checklist is short enough to repeat. It is not a tour through every dashboard, and it does not replace alerts for urgent incidents.

Check alerts and user-facing health

I review unresolved uptime, error-rate, latency, queue, and certificate alerts. I request the homepage and one important application path when an alert or recent deployment warrants it. The goal is to find user impact, not to admire green charts.

I compare the current signal with a baseline. A quiet system may have stopped receiving traffic or events.

Review failed deployments

I scan development, staging, and production jobs for failures or unexpected commits. A failed feature branch can wait; a failed production rollback cannot. I record the first useful error and assign or schedule the investigation.

I avoid starting an unplanned fix before checking whether someone already owns it. Two developers changing the same deployment can erase evidence.

Confirm contact and support delivery

I check that contact-form and support workflows produced expected delivery signals without reading private message content in analytics. Repeated provider failures or a growing queue becomes operational work.

I separate spam volume from delivery failure. A healthy form can still need abuse controls, while an empty inbox can hide a broken handler.

Triage new work

I review Trello, repository issues, and scheduled commitments. Rough ideas remain in planning. Ready work has a clear outcome and acceptance checks. I move one item into active focus unless an incident changes the order.

Small administrative tasks receive a time box or batch. Letting them interrupt the primary build task all day reduces both output and review quality.

Write the validation first

Before coding I list the command, test, route, or user action that will prove the task is complete. This exposes unclear requirements early and gives later review a stable target.

I include negative behavior for authorization, validation, and failure handling. A feature is incomplete if only its happy path has a definition.

Leave a restart point

At the end of the morning check I record what I chose, why it has priority, and the first concrete step. If support interrupts the day, I can return without reconstructing the plan.

Urgent alerts have owners.

Deployments match expected commits.

Lead delivery has a health signal.

One primary task is active.

Completion evidence is written.
